I was commissioned to redesign an existing kitchen island.  The end product was to have a Granite counter top.  The existing island was built against a stub wall that had to be cut down to the height of the counter tops so the Granite would span the whole surface.  Additional cabinets had to be used to provide the needed support surface.  I made two glass door book cases that could be used for either display or book storage.  All the plumbing and electrical had to be relocated.  The result was a very large flat Granite surface that also provided a sitting area in front of the sink.
