Festool Vacuum:

I purchased this vacuum for several reasons, none the least of which was the sound level.  At 62db, it is essentially non-existent in terms of sound [from a vacuum].  Other reasons include the ability to connect it to power tools like my biscuit jointer, random orbital sander, etc.  I previously owned a Sears, 16 gallon unit.  It was loud and tipped over very easily.  The Festool is very quiet and very stable.

Other nice features are the tool storage capability, wet/dry operation and variable speed.  The variable speed turned out to be a very nice feature.  When I attach my ROS, the vacuum is so strong it sucks the ROS to the work and I can't move the tool.  I think one of the down-sides is that I have to buy replacement bags at $4 each.  The Sears didn't require this.  The other side of the coin is Sears' filter required frequent cleaning and the job was very messy.  The Festool uses a bag that is thrown away.  The Festool has similar filter elements but because the bag catches most of the debris, they require infrequent cleaning.

One of the first things I have done is to make adapters for those tools that would benefit from the vacuum.  Click here to see the results.
